Take Back the Tap New York
New York's finest and most popular restaurants are teaming up with Food & Water Watch and Riverkeeper to Take Back the Tap.
Protecting Your NYC Water from the Watershed to the Faucet
![]() |
New Yorkers know that their tap water is some of the best in the world. Food & Water Watch and Riverkeeper are dedicated to making sure it stays that way. (Press release.)
Riverkeeper has been safeguarding the Hudson River, its tributaries and the New York City watershed for decades, so that the more than nine million New York City and Hudson Valley residents always have a preserved and protected natural environment to enjoy, and safe water to drink. Both Riverkeeper and Food & Water Watch will work to ensure that your water stays clean and safe from the watershed to your faucet.
Both organizations will work with city government officials and local institutions to rid their institutions of bottled water and ensure that public water fountains are upgraded and maintained. In addition, restaurants will be encouraged to sign a pledge to switch to serving only municipal tap water and help educate customers about the benefits of tap over bottled water. Some restaurants have already joined the movement.
